David Wright is like Derek Jeter, but Good

David Wright is a player who can do anything and is the best thing to happen to Mets baseball since Tom Seaver. He will be our flagship player. He will be out Derek Jeter, but he'll be more valuable.

This is a five tool player: He can hit, hit for power, throw, run and field. Plus, he is home grown so he is a Met through and through. As a kid growing up in Virginia, he was able to watch the Norfolk Tides, the Mets AAA team. It's like it was destiny. He's our
Luke Skywalker. He's our much more polite Stone Cold Steve Austin. He's is saving Mets baseball.

I have grown up to see
"Generation K" fall flat on its face, Bobby Bonilla trick us into believing he was just as good as Barry Bonds, Timo Perez not running out Todd Zeile's "homerun" in the 2000 World Series, and all the pot scandals from three years ago. It was a joke to be a Mets fan. You had Mike Piazza and that was it. Your Yankee fans friends constantly were laughing and there was nothing to be thankful for. Then, a handsome young Virginian smacked us in the face and screamed "Let's play ball." (although, I'm sure he'd ask permission before slapping us, then apologize right after because he is that great of a guy. We wouldn't even be mad. I swear.)

Stat Line:
2004: 263 AB, 77 H, 14 HR, 40 RBI, .293 BA
2005: 575 AB, 176 H, 27 HR, 102 RBI, .306 BA

He's only getting better. He's hitting well over .400 for the beginning of this season and his defense is remarkably improved from the previous seasons. He's not trying to do too much other than focusing on winning. For 322,500 dollars this season, I'd say he's a steal.

Here is an illustration of what makes him so special. Last year, hitting behind a hot
Cliff Floyd, Wright was thrust often into situation where Floyd would be intentionally walked to get to the "timid" rookie. 6-8. He got a hit 6 of the 8 times he was put in that situation. He might be one of the best two strike hitters in the game today and does not try to do too much at the plate. He puts it in play and drives in runs.

He is our baseball savior. You can see it in his confidence at the plate. You can see it when he dives into the stands for foul balls. You can see it on a diving play at third base. He will carry the Mets on his shoulders to championships. I guarantee it.
